Blog EntryABS-CBN & GMA to merge? - Pinoyexchange.COMMay 12, '08 4:16 PM
for everyone
THE ARTICLE from PINOY EXCHANGE.COM:

ABS-CBN and GMA7 more than being at peace!

The merger of two giants leaked just this weekend. ABS-CBN and GMA7 getting married!

The two companies are tired of banging each other; Atty. Felipe Gozon of GMA7 initiated the negotiation and was delighted to find out that the Lopez Company has been thinking of the same move.

Both parties arrived at a common ground- a winwin situation that promises straight success, giving birth to a new company -the Philippine Broadcasting Network or PBN -the supreme media organization in the country.

Channels 2 and 7 will still be retained but only as subsidiary of the mother network which will be viewed on channel 3. Ditto to its QTV11, Studio23, ANC, other TV channels, and am/fm radio frequencies.

The tie up is said to be one of the most lucrative movement in an industry throughout Asia. Both the board members and stockholder of the two before-rivals are delighted and very much excited about the consolidation. PBN will become the third top corporation in the Philipppines in terms of assets and profitability.

MY THOUGHTS:

Probably just a practical joke, which is quite well-written.

However, if it is true. I say, Competition makes programs better. We must realize that competition benefits the consumers, take SMART and GLOBE for example, because of competition, rates & promos are always there, and prices are always lowered to rival other networks.

Local tv isn't gving much as it is. Imagine if there is no longer any competition that would push one channel to outdo the other with better programs....i wonder how that will be

Just a thought.

i dunno of this thing will work.
sana madami pang channels sa pinas para mas masaya.
parang sa america.channels galore

may mga channel mergers din sa america pero usually, big networks merging with local channels.

kung same business principles ang gagamitin nila, then mukhang ok 'to.

tsaka how come yung founding company pa ang naging sub? parang lumabas na go na go agad ang mga stock holder sa move na to.

uhm... it will be very lucrative for ABS-CBN since they are slowly sinking down, however, GMA, in my own opinion, would be somewhat 'used' in the process since they are now holding the greater share of viewership here in Metro Manila.

Hmm - comparing sa US, Manila does not really have a specific government agency which really tackle or deal with the merger of the company. Sa akin, yung consumer ung palaging talo, hindi yung mga company. Yun nga lang - we should also be open for change. Baka naman it will be for the better.

huh? sinking in terms of what?
ABS-CBN actually saw a growth in net profit in 2007.
are you referring to ABS-CBN's ratings in Manila? Uhm, remember the panel homes controversy?

hala anu to. magiging monopolistic na naman ang buhay. magiging walang choice ang tao.

sana magising ang abs- cbn. number one naman sila sa buong pilipinas. ang gma sa metro manila lang.. manila is not the whole philippines naman eh/

Kapamilya I see... Hmm. The panel homes controversy were nothing but malicious accusations of the ABS-CBN to create a stir and mar the image of the GMA Network.

Sinking? Yes they are. How? Just the first quarter of this year, ABS-CBN laid off some employees to give way for bigger funding for upcoming projects like the PBB Teen Edition Plus among others.

...and they call themselves 'kapamilya". you don't treat your family like that.

enough of rivalry, enough of non-sense bangayan and non-sense tv shows. masyadong nang bumaba ang tv viewing taste ng pinoy dahil sa mga shows na walang kwenta and walang napupulot na aral. what they should do is to focus more on doing quality tv shows na lahat tayo may matututunan.
